The Zonal Chairman of Abia Arise in Abia North, Chief Chidiebere Asonye, has strongly criticized stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for claiming that the party is poised to reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.
Addressing the press in Umuahia on Tuesday, Chief Asonye dismissed recent comments by the PDP Chairman, Elder Amah Abraham, and the Member Representing Ohafia North State Constituency, Hon. Mandela Obasi, as “delusional” and “disconnected from the political reality in the state.”
“It is laughable that people still have the boldness to speak of the PDP—a party Abians overwhelmingly rejected in 2023 when they voted en masse for Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party,” Asonye stated.
He emphasized that Abia State has moved on from what he described as years of stagnation under PDP rule.
“We are not going back to Egypt. Governor Alex Otti has liberated Abia State, and never again will this state be captured by those who do not have the interest of the masses at heart,” he declared.
Asonye expressed strong confidence that the Labour Party will sweep all elective positions in Abia North Senatorial District in 2027.
“Let me inform them that Governor Alex Otti will be massively re-elected in 2027, and the Labour Party will win all elections in Abia North,” he said.
He concluded by urging the people of Abia North to continue their support for Governor Otti in order to consolidate the gains already achieved.
