Rivers Under Me Remains Open To Strategic Economic, Sports Partnerships, Says Ibas

The Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral lbok Ete Ekwe lbas, has vowed to sustain support for genuine efforts geared towards promoting educational development and harnessing of the sporting talents of Rivers youths.

Vice Admiral Ibas gave the assurance when the leadership of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), led by its President – General, Michael Ibrahim Magaji, at Government House in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The sports festival was the 3rd edition ever organised by USOSA to further their commitment to promoting public education, nation building, unity, peace, ethos, and values of country.

The Administrator acknowledged sports as a veritable told to fostering an enriched sense of community while contributing to the holistic development of the individual.

He said his administration remains open to partnerships that will enhance economic growth through sustainable investments to support sustainable efforts for development and offer opportunities to youths to harness their talents.

“As the Administrator of Rivers State, I remain firmly committed to supporting and advancing both educational and sports development initiatives.

“I have also noted your requests for interventions in schools that are here. Let me make it clear that education is one of the sectors that we are giving priority to, in our administration.

“We understand that these sectors are key pillars achieving prosperity and stable society. So, be rest assured we will see what we can do to carry out some interventions in those schools.

“The objectives of setting up Unity Schools is very clear, to continue to build unity within the nation, irrespective of tribes, religion or social belongings.

“So, what USOSA has just demonstrated is a conviction of their belief in our country Nigeria. For organising this sports, you can also imagine the social and economic impact that have made to the State.

“They have also assured the world that Rivers State is safe as territory and part of Nigeria. And so if we Nigerians believe in the unity of this country I think others will want follow and emulate such.”

In his speech, the President-General of the Unity Schools Old Students Association(USOSA), Michael Ibrahim Magaji, acknowledged that Rivers State and they are delighted to have successfully concluded the sports festival.
