Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has promised Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), that his followers will follow his political example.

Kwankwaso was reassured by Yusuf that “his supporters will follow him wherever he goes politically.”

The governor pledged his allegiance to Kwankwaso in a speech to the 484 local government council members from the 44 LGAs at Kano Government House on Sunday.

The governor remarked in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa: “You are the eyes and ears of government at the grassroots. Go back to your wards, listen to the people, and present their most urgent needs. Once you do that, we will act.”

Additionally, the governor asked council members to serve as a conduit between the government and the people by highlighting pressing issues in the community that require immediate attention.

According to the governor of Kano, the state has set aside around N5 billion for ward-level initiatives to deal with drainage, classrooms, and other urgent community infrastructure problems.

In order to guarantee that monies are allocated to programs that directly affect people, Yusuf also emphasized the significance of honesty, openness, and commitment.

This coincides with Peoples Democratic Party defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

There are rumors that additional opposition party members would switch to the ruling party as a result of former PDP presidential running mate Ifeanyi Okowa’s defection to the APC.
