Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could potentially be linked to the internal crisis currently facing the PDP.

Mohammed made the comment while addressing journalists following a high-level meeting of the PDP Governors Forum and key stakeholders held on Sunday night at the Bauchi State Government Lodge in Abuja. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“We would not want to blame the APC for causing a crisis in the PDP, but they are likely to be the ones. We are not saying they are the ones,” Mohammed stated, alluding to the possibility of external influence contributing to the PDP’s prolonged internal challenges.

The gathering brought together a wide range of influential party figures, including current and former governors and members of the National Working Committee. Among those present were Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.

Also in attendance were former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).

The meeting aimed to address the party’s internal divisions, which have persisted since the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election. The PDP has been grappling with a leadership crisis that began when the party’s leadership zoned both its presidential ticket and National Chairmanship to the North, sparking discontent among key southern stakeholders.

The deliberations are expected to continue as party leaders seek to restore unity and reposition the PDP ahead of future electoral contests.
