PUO Reports — A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Utaan Terhide Conrad, has expressed optimism over the party’s resurgence, citing recent developments within its national leadership as signs of renewed stability and unity.

In a personally signed statement released on Wednesday, Utaan commended the PDP for taking bold steps toward reconciliation and internal cohesion, particularly lauding the inauguration of the Dr. Bukola Saraki-led Reconciliation Committee and the elevation of Chief Samuel Ortom to the Board of Trustees (BOT).

“I wish to congratulate His Excellency, Chief Samuel Ortom, the Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State and the immediate past Governor of the state, on his inauguration as a distinguished member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of our great party,” Utaan stated.

He described Ortom’s appointment as a strategic and timely decision, emphasizing the former governor’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the party’s national outlook.

“Chief Ortom’s membership of the PDP BOT attests to his commitment, visionary leadership, and invaluable contributions to the PDP. I am confident that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear, and his presence on the BOT will serve as a catalyst for the continued growth, stability, and unity of the PDP across the country,” he said.

Utaan also hailed the National Working Committee (NWC) for constituting a seven-member Reconciliation Committee chaired by former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, describing the move as a significant stride toward party restoration.

“This initiative demonstrates the party’s sincere commitment to healing internal divisions, fostering unity among members, and laying a solid foundation for a robust and resilient PDP,” he said.

He stressed that the combination of these strategic appointments signals the PDP’s clear intent to reposition itself as a dominant force in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future electoral contests.

“I believe that such proactive measures will invigorate our party’s structures, rekindle the enthusiasm of our members, and position the PDP for greater success in the near future,” Utaan stated.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Utaan called on members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to support the leadership’s ongoing reforms and initiatives.

“I encourage other party members in the 36 states and the FCT to remain resilient, ready to sacrifice, and willing to make concessions towards repositioning the PDP as the preferred platform for Nigeria’s progress and prosperity,” he urged.

He concluded with a message of hope and faith in the party’s future.

“May the Almighty God continue to guide and strengthen our great party. Long live the Peoples Democratic Party. Long live Nigeria,” the statement concluded.

As the PDP intensifies its internal reconciliation efforts, political observers will be watching closely to see how these initiatives shape the party’s fortunes ahead of the next general elections.
