A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dele Momodu, has cautioned that the party stands no chance of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections unless it unites and forms a broader political coalition.

Speaking on Tuesday during a live appearance on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State’s monthly programme, Momodu emphasized the critical need for internal cohesion and strategic alliances.

According to him, “The APC is jittery of the PDP. They know it is the only opposition party that can challenge its dominance in 2027.”

He further alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is deliberately working to destabilize the PDP by encouraging internal divisions. “This is one of the reasons why the leadership of the APC at all levels is ensuring that the party is factionalized,” he stated.

Momodu also expressed concern about internal sabotage within the PDP, saying, “Another challenge is the problem within the party. Some of its members are being used to work against its stability and progress.”

He concluded by reiterating that only a united coalition of political forces across party lines would be strong enough to pose a credible challenge to President Tinubu in the next election cycle.

“Also, whoever would contest favourably against the current president must come from the opposite direction in terms of regions in Nigeria,” Momodu added.
