The International Conference Centre in Abuja has officially been renamed the President Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre following the completion of a major renovation project.

President Bola Tinubu unveiled the new name during the commissioning of the upgraded facility on Tuesday. The event was attended by key government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau.

According to officials, the extensive rehabilitation of the centre was executed at a cost of N39 billion. The centre, which had been closed for renovation since April 2024, now stands as one of the flagship infrastructure projects delivered under the Tinubu administration in the FCT.

The commissioning is part of a series of projects lined up for inauguration by the President in the lead-up to Democracy Day, which will be celebrated on June 12, 2025.

Highlighting the occasion, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was seen dancing at the ceremony, reflecting the administration’s enthusiasm over the completion of the landmark project.

The newly renamed conference centre is expected to serve as a premier venue for national and international events, reaffirming Abuja’s position as a leading hub for diplomacy and governance in Africa.
