The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced its chairmanship candidates for the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following the conclusion of its internal elections. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chris Hassan, who described the process as free, fair, and devoid of rancour.
In Kuje Area Council, Mr. Zacharia Danlami emerged unopposed after his only rival, Mr. Michael Jigu, withdrew from the contest. Danlami secured all 30 delegate votes.
In Abaji Area Council, Mr. Musa Biliyanmu was the sole aspirant and also received all 30 votes, confirming his candidacy unchallenged.
In the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), two aspirants contested. Mr. Zadna Dintani won with 24 votes, defeating Mr. William Gaje, who received 12 votes.
In Gwagwalada Area Council, Mr. Kasim Mohammed emerged victorious with 19 votes, ahead of Mr. Rabiu Adamu who polled 11 votes.
In Kwali Area Council, three candidates contested:
* Mr. Harruna Mohammed scored 13 votes
* Mr. Daniel Ibrahim received 11 votes
* Mr. Shashim Zaka garnered 6 votes
Harruna Mohammed was declared winner.
Bwari Area Council had the most crowded field, with six aspirants. Mr. Julius Adamu emerged as the winner with 19 votes. His closest challenger, Mr. Bitrus Jibada, got 6 votes. The remaining candidates—Mr. Harruna Mohammed, Mr. Ibrahim Dauda, and Mr. Zaka Bello—scored one, one, and zero votes respectively.
Chris Hassan commended the conduct of the primaries and urged all candidates and party members to unite and work together to ensure success in the general council elections scheduled for 2026.
