The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has described the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as an “Uber” politician.

Abure made the remark in a statement personally signed on Friday, criticising Obi for what he called an elevation of subterfuge in politics and alleging that the former Anambra State governor had recently been “crying wolf where there was none.”

According to Abure, Obi has “booked a place for himself in the Guinness book of records as a person affiliated to many political parties pari pasu, all in his desperation to preside over Nigeria.”

“It is unfortunate that Obi has turned himself to an irony and a paradox in the Nigeria political space.

“He has turned himself into ‘Uber’ politician, not willing to take a position and stand by his decision,” Abure stated.

His comments came in response to Obi’s recent directive to his supporters to back African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates in the August 16 by-elections taking place across several states.
