Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has cautioned ADC Vanguard, a political support group, against fabricating statements and attributing them to him.

Writing on his X handle on Thursday, El-Rufai said he would disown such remarks, stressing that he has his own platforms to express his opinions.

“Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my own social media accounts where I can share my views and opinions. I am going to disown the statements you created and attributed, not because I necessarily disagree with the message, but because I never made them. That is not the honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith,” he stated.

His warning followed a since-deleted post by ADC Vanguard, which had quoted him as describing President Bola Tinubu’s administration as “Nigeria’s most corrupt and dishonest government” that had “mastered the act of looting shamelessly while deceiving confidently.”

In response to El-Rufai’s rebuttal, ADC Vanguard apologized, acknowledging the misrepresentation.

“Dear Mallam El-Rufai, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you. We respect your voice and your platforms as the proper channels for your views,” the group wrote.

The group further pledged to rely only on verified and authentic sources in its communications, while appreciating El-Rufai for pointing out the matter respectfully.
