The Nigerian Senate has informed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, that she cannot resume office yet, despite her claim that her six-month suspension has elapsed.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate acknowledged her notification of intent to return but insisted the suspension remains in effect.

According to the letter, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s case against the Senate is still pending before the Court of Appeal, and as such, the matter is sub judice.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the Clerk stated.

The Senate added that her suspension status would only be reviewed after the appellate court delivers its ruling.
