The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited and questioned former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, regarding the recent attack on his convoy in Kebbi State.

The incident occurred on September 1, 2025, when suspected political thugs targeted Malami’s convoy in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr. Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque.

Confirming the development in a Facebook post on Monday, Malami said he honored the DSS invitation to aid the ongoing investigation.

“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025,” he stated.

Malami suggested that the petition leading to his invitation was politically motivated, allegedly instigated by opposition figures in the state.

Despite this, he commended the DSS for what he described as a professional and transparent process. “I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” he added.
