Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has disclosed that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was to formally notify him of his return to office following the lifting of his suspension.
The governor, who was reinstated after six months of emergency rule in the state, visited the State House on Monday evening for a closed-door discussion with the president.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, Fubara described the engagement as a “father-and-son” conversation, noting that he sought President Tinubu’s guidance on how to maintain stability in Rivers State.
“You are aware that the suspension was lifted at midnight on the 17th and I resumed on the 19th. I came to inform Mr. President that I am back and have resumed my responsibilities as Governor of Rivers State,” he explained.
According to Fubara, the discussion also centered on strategies to prevent a recurrence of political tensions in the state.
