The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has invited Senate President Godswill Akpabio to attend a commissioning ceremony for completed constituency projects in Kogi State.
The invitation, which was also extended to other senators, was read by Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session at the National Assembly.
According to the communication, the commissioning will take place on Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, as part of activities marking Akpoti-Uduaghan’s second anniversary in the Senate. The invitation letter reads, “In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State.”
Senators are expected to converge at the senator’s residence located at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene. Those traveling by air were advised to land at Obajana Airstrip before heading to the venue by road.
Responding after reading the letter, Senate President Akpabio congratulated Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in advance.
The development signals a further mending of relations between both lawmakers following the intense dispute over seat reallocation earlier in the year, which led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate in March. Since her return in September, she has increasingly engaged with Senate leadership, including making contributions to legislative deliberations.
The invitation is seen as the most direct gesture of reconciliation so far.
