Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially become the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for next year’s election.
He emerged unopposed in the party’s primary held on Wednesday in Osogbo. One hundred and fifty delegates were accredited while five ballots were ruled invalid, leaving a total of one hundred and forty five valid votes.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hajia Mariam Saleh, represented by the Secretary, Abulazeez Salaudeen, announced that Governor Adeleke received all one hundred and forty five votes to claim the party’s ticket. She said the committee delivered on its mandate to ensure a free and fair process. Saleh added that voting and counting were witnessed by party agents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The national chairman of the Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem, presented the party flag and certificate to Governor Adeleke. He encouraged him to continue with his work as he seeks a second term under the party’s banner.
Adeleke thanked members of the Accord Party for choosing him as their candidate for the twenty twenty six election. He urged party members and voters to support the Accord Party at the polls.
He said, “I accept my nomination as candidate of Accord Party for the Osun 2026 governorship election. The confidence you repose in me will not be regretted.”
He added, “My candidacy signals the success of the journey of development as it continues to shine across our state in the service of our people.”
The governor assured residents that Osun State will not return to what he described as dark days marked by failed promises. He said his endorsement by the Accord Party showed that the opposition against the will of the people has been rejected.
