Minister of Works David Umahi has said there is no longer any justification for Biafra agitation, insisting that the South East has been fully integrated into Nigeria’s national framework under President Bola Tinubu.

Umahi made the statement during an inspection tour of ongoing federal infrastructure projects across the South East.

He explained that feelings of marginalisation, which previously fuelled separatist agitation, have significantly reduced due to renewed federal presence, particularly in road construction and other critical infrastructure.

“There will be no need for Biafra again. In the past administration, our people felt very much marginalised and that was the reason some people were agitating for Biafra.

“But I can say today that we are well integrated into the mainstream of the nation, Nigeria,” he said.

The minister praised the Tinubu administration, noting that the region is satisfied with its level of inclusion and engagement at the federal level.

“We are comfortable with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are very happy with the integration,” Umahi added.

He further highlighted several long abandoned federal projects that are now being completed, stressing that many had suffered neglect for over 15 years before the current administration intervened.

“For more than 15 years it has been one government will come and just do something and go.

“But the section being done by MTN under RCC is going to be completed by February fully and totally, and it is costing us ₦202 billion,” he said.
