Four countries have been knocked out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, following the conclusion of the Round of 16 matches played on Sunday in Morocco.
The eliminated teams are Sudan, Tunisia, Tanzania and South Africa.
Tanzania’s campaign ended after a narrow 1–0 defeat to tournament hosts Morocco, denying them a place in the quarter finals.
South Africa also crashed out of the competition after suffering a 2–1 loss to Cameroon, falling short of reaching the last eight.
Meanwhile, the Round of 16 action continues on Monday, with Egypt set to face the Benin Republic in one encounter.
In the other fixture later tonight, Nigeria will battle Mozambique’s Mambas for a spot in the quarter finals.
