Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said Manchester United produced “two magic moments” to beat his side 3–2 at the Emirates on Sunday.
The defeat ended the Gunners’ unbeaten home record, with Matheus Cunha striking a late winner after Mikel Merino had appeared to have rescued a point for Arsenal.
Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo had earlier scored for United after a Lisandro Martinez own goal had handed Arsenal the lead.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Arteta said his team lost control after gifting United a way back into the game.
“We were really dominant in the first 30 minutes and we scored, then we gave them the goal and that transformed the momentum and energy,” Arteta said.
“After that we dropped the standard with the ball, then they had two magic moments with the goals they scored and in big games you need these moments.
“We were carrying that negativity but when we got it to 2–2 you feel ‘game on’. But then one long ball, one pass and Cunha scores, so it’s a very painful one.”
Arteta admitted his side failed to manage key moments in the match and paid the price against a clinical United team.
