The Headquarters of the 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, has issued a public advisory notifying residents of Ohafia and surrounding communities of an upcoming day and night shooting exercise as part of activities marking the 82 Division Corporals and Below Competition 2026.
According to a statement signed by Captain Muyiwa Ayara on behalf of the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the exercise is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Shooting Range, Ohafia, between 12:00 noon and 11:00 pm.
The Army explained that the exercise is a routine training programme designed to enhance the operational efficiency, marksmanship, and combat readiness of participating soldiers.
Residents have been advised not to panic at the sound of gunshots, as all activities will be conducted in a controlled and secure environment.
For safety reasons, the military urged members of the public to:
* Stay away from the shooting range area throughout the exercise
* Avoid unauthorized movement around the designated training zone
* Comply strictly with all instructions issued by military personnel
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of citizens and called for the cooperation and understanding of the public during the exercise.
