The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the Deputy Governor of the state.

The confirmation followed his screening by lawmakers during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the ad hoc committee and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, said Garo’s nomination came after the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He explained that the screening was conducted in accordance with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the Assembly to approve a nominee in the event of a vacancy.

According to the committee, Garo underwent a comprehensive screening process where he responded to questions on his educational background, professional experience, understanding of governance, and plans for the state. His credentials were also verified.

The committee noted that the nominee demonstrated a clear grasp of the responsibilities of the office and outlined plans to support the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Based on its findings, the committee recommended his confirmation, which was subsequently approved by the House.
