Dumebi Kachikwu, former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has said that attempts to take over the opposition party have failed ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made the statement on Wednesday while addressing journalists following a Federal High Court judgment that barred the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising the David Mark led leadership.

Kachikwu said the ruling affirmed his earlier position that certain individuals were trying to seize control of the party through illegitimate means.

“The court has spoken clearly. It has confirmed what we have been saying all along that the ADC is not for sale,” he stated.

He added that the judgment had halted what he described as a coordinated political takeover, insisting that those involved had been lawfully stopped.

“Those who tried to hijack our party have been shown the way out through the same back door they came in,” Kachikwu said.

He further described the alleged plotters as “political desperados,” noting that their efforts ultimately failed under judicial scrutiny.
