Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and his New Nigeria Peoples Party counterpart Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Their move comes shortly after Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress, signalling a new phase in preparations for their presidential ambitions.
The two political figures were received at the party’s headquarters in Abuja by the National Leader of the NDC and former Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas.
Party leaders described the development as a reflection of growing national confidence in the NDC, noting that the entry of both politicians could strengthen the party’s position ahead of the next election cycle.
