The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the no case submission filed by activist Omoyele Sowore in the cyberbullying case instituted against him by the Department of State Services, DSS.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar delivered the ruling on Friday, holding that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Sowore, thereby requiring him to enter his defence.

The DSS had arraigned Sowore on charges linked to alleged cyberbullying of President Bola Tinubu.

According to the charges, the activist allegedly referred to Tinubu as a “criminal” on his Twitter handle.

Sowore had earlier approached the court with a no case submission, asking to be discharged and acquitted on the two count charge filed against him.

However, Justice Umar ruled that the evidence presented by the DSS sufficiently connected Sowore to the alleged offences.

The judge stated that the prosecution had successfully established grounds that warranted the continuation of the trial and directed the activist to open his defence.
