Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the declaration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to contest the 2027 presidential election, saying the development favours the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ahmad made the remark in a post shared on his verified X account on Thursday shortly after Makinde formally announced his presidential ambition.
Governor Makinde had declared his intention to join the 2027 presidential race during a rally organised by the PDP and APM alliance in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The event attracted party supporters, political stakeholders and allies, marking another significant development in the growing political realignments ahead of the next general elections.
Reacting to the announcement, Ahmad suggested that the emergence of more opposition contenders would work to the advantage of the APC.
“I just read that Governor Seyi Makinde has declared his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
“Well, for our great party, the APC, the more the merrier.”
