The Abia North Peace Foundation has congratulated Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on his landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Abia North Senatorial District.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director General, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, the group described Kalu’s victory as a clear reflection of his popularity, grassroots political structure, and the confidence reposed in him by APC members across the district.

Senator Kalu had defeated his challenger, Philip Nto, with 65,651 votes against Nto’s 2,103 votes in the direct primary election conducted across the 57 wards and five local government areas of Abia North Senatorial District.

The foundation noted that the overwhelming margin of victory reaffirmed Kalu’s dominance in Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs.

Chief Ukaegbu, however, called on the APC leadership to investigate how Philip Nto secured over 2,000 votes despite what he described as Senator Kalu’s widespread acceptance across the district.

According to him, there may be individuals within the party secretly working for opposition interests.

“We congratulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on this well-deserved victory. The outcome of the primary election clearly shows that the people of Abia North still believe strongly in his leadership, empowerment programmes, and developmental projects,” Ukaegbu stated.

He added, “However, the APC leadership should carefully investigate how Philip Nto was able to secure 2,103 votes across the five LGAs. The party may have some moles working for the opposition, and such issues should not be ignored ahead of the general elections.”

The group further commended party members for conducting themselves peacefully during the primary exercise and urged all APC stakeholders in Abia North to unite behind Senator Kalu ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.

The foundation also praised Kalu’s performance in office, citing his interventions in road infrastructure, rural electrification, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, and industrial development across Abia North Senatorial District.

According to the group, Senator Kalu’s achievements and political experience place him in a strong position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
