Former Chief of Staff to ex Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Professor Anthony Agbazuere, has declared his support for the re election of Governor Alex Otti ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
Agbazuere recently resigned as Chairman of a strategic committee established in March 2026 by three former governors of Abia State to develop a roadmap for the All Progressives Congress, APC, electoral success and governance agenda in the state.
The committee was inaugurated by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on behalf of former governors Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu.
However, during a visit to Governor Alex Otti at his residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area on Wednesday, Agbazuere officially aligned himself with the Labour Party, LP.
Leading a group of supporters to the governor’s residence, Agbazuere said the achievements of Governor Otti’s administration influenced his decision to leave the APC for the Labour Party.
Reacting to the development, Governor Otti assured the new members of the Labour Party that they would not face discrimination from existing party loyalists.
The governor also pledged that his administration would continue to intensify developmental projects across the state and advised Agbazuere and his supporters to formally register with the Labour Party.
