African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday visited his main challenger in the party’s presidential primary, former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Atiku emerged victorious in the recently concluded ADC presidential primary election after defeating Amaechi.

Before the official declaration of the result, Amaechi had rejected the outcome of the exercise, alleging that the process was characterised by irregularities.

In his acceptance speech, Atiku appealed to Amaechi and other aggrieved members of the ADC to unite and work with him ahead of the general election.

Details of Thursday’s meeting were yet to be disclosed as neither Atiku nor Amaechi had addressed the media at the time of filing this report.

However, political observers believe the meeting forms part of Atiku’s ongoing efforts to secure Amaechi’s backing for the presidential election.
