Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has issued an Executive Order restricting motorcycle operations across the state between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of efforts to strengthen security and combat criminal activities.

The governor announced the measure on Friday, stating that his administration remains fully committed to securing the release of the abducted teachers and schoolchildren currently being held by kidnappers.

Makinde said the government would not relent until all victims are safely reunited with their families, stressing that their continued captivity remains a source of deep concern for the state.

According to him, every day the victims remain in the hands of their abductors brings pain not only to their loved ones but also to residents across Oyo State.

The governor assured citizens that security agencies and government officials are working tirelessly to secure the release of the victims, adding that efforts are ongoing around the clock despite the challenges involved.

He described the safe return of the kidnapped teachers and pupils as one of the most pressing priorities of his administration.

Makinde further emphasized that the victims have not been forgotten and that the government remains focused on bringing the situation to a successful resolution.

“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes,” he said.

The restriction on motorcycle operations is expected to form part of a broader security strategy aimed at limiting criminal movements during late night hours and improving surveillance across vulnerable areas of the state.

The latest directive comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity and increasing calls for stronger measures to address kidnapping and other violent crimes in Oyo State.
