Former Bayelsa State Governor and senior figure in the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has disclosed details of his recent meeting with former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, stating that discussions focused on resolving internal issues affecting the party in Kano State.

Dickson made the disclosure in a statement shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday after hosting Kwankwaso and other senior NDC officials at his residence.

According to him, the engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen unity within the party and address concerns involving party stakeholders in Kano State.

He explained that the discussions were aimed at fostering cooperation between party officials and Kwankwaso, whom he described as the party’s leader in Kano State and its vice presidential candidate.

Dickson noted that as the NDC continues to gain prominence as a major opposition platform, internal disagreements are expected. However, he emphasized that such challenges are being managed through dialogue, consultation, and reconciliation.

He expressed optimism that the outcome of the meeting would further consolidate unity within the party and position members to work collectively toward future electoral victories.

The former governor also described both the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the Obidient Movement as important grassroots support networks for the party.

According to him, efforts are already underway to formally integrate members of both groups into the party’s activities across the country.

“The Kwankwasiyya Movement, the Obidient Movement and other support groups remain valuable mobilization networks. I had earlier recieved a courtesy delegation some weeks ago by the Obidient Movement and promised to ensure their integration into the activities of our party at various levels across the country; and the same for the Kwankwasiyya movement which I have asked for their list of coordinators to be forwarded to the party for the same purpose. This process will be undertaken in a structured and orderly manner,” Dickson said.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and internal cohesion as it continues efforts to strengthen its national structure ahead of future political contests.
