The Federal Government, state governments, and local government councils shared a total of N2.257 trillion from the Federation Account as revenue generated in April 2026.
This was disclosed on Monday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, following the May 2026 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee held in Abuja.
According to the statement, the total distributable revenue of N2.257 trillion consisted of N1.260 trillion in statutory revenue, N747.088 billion from Value Added Tax revenue, and N250.000 billion as augmentation.
The committee noted that total gross revenue available for April 2026 stood at N3.184 trillion. From this amount, N113.756 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N813.839 billion was allocated to transfers, refunds, and savings.
The statement further revealed that gross statutory revenue for April 2026 rose to N2.378 trillion, representing an increase of N678.224 billion compared to the N1.699 trillion recorded in March 2026.
Similarly, gross VAT revenue increased to N806.617 billion in April, reflecting a rise of N142.192 billion from the N664.425 billion recorded in March.
From the total distributable revenue of N2.257 trillion, the Federal Government received N787.351 billion, while state governments received N772.360 billion.
Local government councils received N540.152 billion, while oil producing states received N157.254 billion as derivation revenue, representing 13 percent of mineral earnings.
From the N1.260 trillion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N580.942 billion. State governments got N294.661 billion, while local government councils received N227.172 billion.
The sum of N157.254 billion from mineral revenue was also distributed to benefiting states as derivation funds.
From the N747.088 billion VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N74.709 billion, state governments got N410.898 billion, and local government councils received N261.481 billion.
Regarding the N250.000 billion augmentation, the Federal Government received N131.700 billion, state governments received N66.800 billion, while local government councils got N51.500 billion.
The FAAC communiqué also noted significant increases in Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duties, import duties, oil and gas royalties, and VAT collections during the period.
However, Petroleum Profit Tax and Hydrocarbon Tax recorded substantial declines, while excise duty and Common External Tariff levies dropped slightly.
