Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso has been announced as the deputy governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress in Kano State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Mustapha will contest alongside Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
He is the first son of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s vice presidential candidate and a prominent political figure in Kano.
The announcement was confirmed on Monday by Habibu Saleh Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
In a statement, Mohammed said:
“HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for the 2027 Governorship Election.”
The development is expected to further strengthen the influence of the Kwankwasiyya Movement within the NDC’s political structure in Kano as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
