Mbappé inspired France to a commanding win, securing their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A brace from Mbappé, alongside a goal from Bradley Barcola, sealed the victory for the French side at MetLife Stadium.
With his two goals against Sweden, Mbappé has now scored nine goals in nine FIFA World Cup knockout stage matches.
According to Opta, the Real Madrid forward now holds the record for the most goals scored in World Cup knockout rounds, surpassing both Leônidas and Ronaldo Nazário, who each recorded eight goals.
Mbappé has now scored six goals in the ongoing tournament, making him the joint top scorer alongside Lionel Messi of Argentina, who also has six goals.
