Afrobeats star Davido has expressed grief over the reported killing of an Accord Party member, Mr Sunday Obube, in a fresh attack ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
Obube was reportedly killed by suspected political thugs on Friday at about 6:00 a.m. in the Omi Eran Atijo community of Ilesa West Local Government Area.
Reacting to a viral video of the incident through his verified X account, Davido expressed sadness over the reported death.
“Mehnnnnn may his perfect soul rest in peace.”
The singer’s reaction came days after he publicly criticised Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, over remarks that sparked controversy ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Fadahunsi was seen in a viral video allegedly making remarks against members of the Accord Party, which drew widespread reactions and condemnation.
The deceased was reportedly chased by the suspected attackers before he was caught and killed.
