Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, continuing a series of consultations in Abuja following his recent re-election.

A photograph of the meeting shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, shows Adeleke shaking hands with the FCT minister as they both hold the governor’s certificate of return.

Olayinka captioned the picture, “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”

The visit came hours after the governor held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Adeleke arrived at the Villa around 5:20–5:25 p.m. in traditional attire, accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several Osun State officials, including his campaign director-general and chief of staff.

During the meeting, the governor presented his certificate of return and expressed gratitude for the conduct of the August 15 governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after securing 511,067 votes.

He defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

The governor won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.

Speaking briefly with State House correspondents after meeting with the President, Adeleke said Tinubu deserved commendation for allowing the electoral process to run its course without interference.

According to Adeleke, his visit was primarily to thank Tinubu, whom he described as the “father of the nation”, for respecting the democratic process.

“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.
