The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has clarified that he is a billionaire when his wealth is measured in naira, but not in US dollars.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, made the clarification while responding to questions during an appearance on the Keeping It Real with Adeola Fayehun podcast in the United States.

The NDC candidate explained that the term billionaire is commonly used in reference to wealth measured in US dollars.

“You know they calculate billionaire in dollars. In naira, yes I am (a billionaire) in naira but not in dollars.

“You know dollars is what they use to measure. Dollars is what they use to measure billionaire, it’s always in dollars but in naira, yes I am. Capital yes,” Obi said.

Obi is currently in the United States as part of his engagements ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
