Dino Melaye Mocks Tinubu After President Refers to Himself as Governor
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has mocked President Bola Tinubu after the Nigerian leader referred to himself as a governor during an event organised by the All Progressives Congress.
Melaye reacted in a post on his verified X account, expressing surprise at what he described as the president’s apparent mistake.
Tinubu sparked reactions after referring to himself as a governor during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday.
Reacting to the incident, Melaye wrote, “Na wa oooo. I no know say the thing bad like this. Not former Governor Bola Tinubu, not President Bola Tinubu. Governor Bola Tinubu back for 2nd term,” he tweeted.
The former lawmaker’s comment attracted reactions from social media users, with some questioning the president’s continued involvement in politics at his age, while others suggested the remark could have been a campaign strategy.
An X user, @Nzemeka4, wrote, “Is there anything wrong for this old man to go back home and enjoy his old age?”
Another user, @FrancisEyo9, described the incident as a possible political strategy, writing, “It’s a campaign strategy. This how and what he did in 2023 and people thought it was real but now we know it’s a strategy.”
Meanwhile, @Sainsain reacted by saying, “Nigerians don enter One chance.”
