Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of divorcing his wife, Jennifer Douglas, after losing a presidential election.
Oshiomhole made the allegation on Monday during the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.
The former Edo State governor claimed that Atiku had promised to make Jennifer, whom he described as being from the Southeast, Nigeria’s First Lady if he won the presidential election.
He alleged that the former vice president later ended the marriage after failing to secure victory.
According to Oshiomhole, Atiku had also established a foundation for Jennifer during their marriage before the relationship ended.
He said, “Like somebody said the other day that Atiku went to the Southeast and said if I win election, your daughter would be the First Lady, that was when he married Jennifer.
“Because he likes abusing our president so we must reply, he married Jennifer, set up a foundation for her and at the end of the day, he lost the election and he went ahead to divorce Jennifer, he took her to court, is that not true? We must have the courage to mention their names if they have no respect to mention our leader’s name.”
Oshiomhole also cautioned Atiku against making remarks against President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the former vice president should expect responses from members of the ruling party.
