Afrobeats star Davido has spoken about the demise of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
He stated he and his wife, Chioma, didn’t deserve to lose him.
The singer, who recently released his fourth studio album ‘Timeless’, spoke in an interview with CNN.
He noted the tragic passing of his three-year-old son stalled the album release seeing he and his loved ones were thrown in mourning as a result.
“Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I really had to calm myself down and take a step back,” Davido stated.
The DMW boss however explained the unrivalled love and support shown him by all and sundry got him back on his feet to do what he loved best.
“One thing I said that helped was the support. Support from everybody like a lot of people that I hadn’t spoken to for years. And then, you know nobody would want that,” he said, referring to the death of his toddler.
“And everybody knows that me and Chioma didn’t deserve that. If anybody in the world even like kind of ‘deserved’ that, we didn’t.
“Personally with me, the support I got from people was one of the things that helped me stand up again.
“I remember I couldn’t open my Instagram for like three weeks. And then one day I was like ‘Yo, bring my phone let me check it’. And I just checked and I saw messages from any kind of person in the world, you can imagine.
“From politicians to sportsmen to other musicians, to presidents. That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio. And get back to what I do and what I love.”
