This morning, Speaker Martin Amaewhule, along with twenty-five lawmakers, convened a session at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex. During the meeting, they successfully deliberated on two key issues: the suspension of the strike by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) and urged the police to prosecute those responsible for the burning of the chamber.
The Assembly Complex entrance is now under heightened security, with four police vans stationed, and the Moscow road axis of Port Harcourt restricted to vehicular and human movement during the session. Following the meeting, senior police officers reportedly locked the entrance, and additional police personnel have been deployed at the gate of the Assembly complex.
