According to Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), if the current issue in Rivers State is not stopped in time, it will eventually lead to the administration of President Bola Tinubu being unstable.
He claimed that Tinubu’s administration will be severely weakened by Wike’s desire that Siminalaya Fubara be removed from office as governor of Rivers State by the State House of Assembly defectors.
Frank urged President Tinubu to summon FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to order and give peace a chance in a message he provided to newsmen in Abuja on Friday. He said that Wike was using the back door to install another Ikwere guy.
Frank reminded President Tinubu that Fubara became governor as a result of the people’s votes in the general election and issued a dire warning to anyone attempting to unseat him out of self-interest as it would throw Rivers into disarray and ultimately hurt the country’s income prospects.
He claimed that Wike’s ongoing effort to remove Fubara illegally is a ploy to weaken the Ijaw people in Rivers State.
Frank said: “Since 1999, this is the first time in Rivers State we have a Governor from the Ijaw ethnic extraction.
“Every other person who has become governor since 1999 had successfully done two tenures in eight years.
So, Wike must allow Fubara to do his own term peacefully.
“Even though it is common knowledge that he was one of those that were instrumental and backed Fubara to become governor, that does not mean Fubara will now become his stooge and neglect to carry out his constitutional duties as the governor of Rivers State.”
“Fubara was not elected for the sole purpose,” continued Frank, who speaks for the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) across East Africa and the Middle East.
