Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was duly elected as the governor of Imo State, as confirmed by the Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday.
The Labour Party, or LP, and its governorship candidate, Athan Achonu, had their plea denied by the tribunal, which rendered its decision in Abuja.
The three-member panel of the tribunal determined that Uzodimma’s election as governor of Imo State met substantially with the provisions of the Electoral Act, with a decision rendered unanimously by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay.
The tribunal also determined that the Labour Party’s petition’s allegations of excessive voting and disregard for the Electoral Act were not supported by sufficient evidence.
