Assuming nothing unexpected happens, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will begin his full-scale trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja today on terrorism-related charges.

The federal government has charged Kanu with terrorism, and Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, a renowned legal luminary, is slated to lead the prosecution’s legal team.

Conversely, Kanu’s legal representation will be led by Aloy Ejimakor, who will be joined by other distinguished attorneys.

Justice Binta Fatimat Nyako is scheduled to preside over the trial, which is scheduled to begin at midday.

As of the time of this report, a retinue of Department of State Services (DSS) agents had taken over responsibility for the protection of the court’s property and the roadways leading there in order to thwart potential threats to law and order.

To prevent the admission of hazardous materials, all litigants and attorneys desiring to enter the courthouse must submit to a comprehensive frisking procedure.

It was noted that, in order to prevent overcrowding on the court grounds, people who do not have any urgent business there today are being graciously turned away.

Kanu is anticipated to be taken into the courtroom about midday under strict security guard.
