A 13-person committee has been established by the newly elected PDP leadership in Imo State with the goal of uniting the party’s members.

The initiative was started by the party’s new leadership, led by Austin Nwachukwu, who insisted that the committee’s creation was necessary to create a strong, cohesive, and inclusive party in the state.

Nwachukwu, who presided over the committee’s inaugural meeting at the Imo PDP’s State Secretariat in Owerri, stated that the party’s mission is to guarantee that it continues to be the best option and the only hope for restoring good governance to the State by returning power to the people.

In addition, he insisted that the committee’s reconciliation initiative will cultivate the conditions for the party to seize power in the state in 2027.

The party’s State Chairman charged the reconciliation committee with bringing new individuals into the fold while simultaneously pressing them to make sure that all disgruntled party members are appeased and brought back into the fold.

In his acceptance address, committee chairman Ben Duru gave the party leadership his word that his group will carry out the mandate.

He described the Imo PDP as a vast and unbreakable platform that appeals to the state’s citizens, adding that members of a family as broad as the PDP are always going to disagree on some matters but will always be loyal to the group.

“It is paramount to have the mindset that if you didn’t win today, you can win tomorrow, even better positions. We are one big family. The committee is going to do a thorough job and submit our report in less than a month.” he assured.

In a press release from the party’s publicity secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, the committee was tasked with finding, contacting, and making amends with any disgruntled party members who might not be satisfied with the results of the recently held Wards and LGAs congresses. The goal was to ensure a just resolution and foster internal peace, harmony, and unity.

Party faithful and members of the State Working Committee turned out in force for the inauguration.
