On Wednesday, Kola Ologbondiyan, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged Nigerians to give the party some leeway.
Ologbondiyan made the call in response to the disagreement between Nyesom, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s previous presidential candidate.
The former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP emphasized that the party is bigger than Atiku and Wike and asked them to reconcile for the party’s sake.
The PDP leader stated during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief that the party shouldn’t be reduced to the opinions of Wike or Atiku’s section.
The PDP is presently dealing with a leadership crisis that stems from the preparations for the 2023 presidential election.
Wike worked against Atiku and the PDP during the presidential race as a result of the schism.
Four former governors and one current governor who served under President Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, made up the G-5 Integrity group that Wike had created from the PDP.
With no end in sight, Ologbondiyan stated: “I look forward to the day when the PDP will be allowed to breathe without the issue of former vice president Atiku Abubakar or the current minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
“The PDP is larger than two individuals. It is a party of millions of people, and we cannot permanently reduce it to the level of what one side or the other is saying.
“What of those who don’t have sides and have moved beyond the election and the 2023 convention?”
