Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that his party will soon assume control of Rivers State.
In order to create a foothold in the state, Ganduje stated that the APC’s Rivers State chapter would be “rebuilt and repositioned.”
When Action Alliance (AA) candidate for governor in 2023, Dawari Ibietela George, defected to the APC, he spoke.
He emphasized the party’s dedication to upholding justice while embracing a range of interests.
The APC National Chairman praised George’s political savvy and called him a “big fish,” saying he was confident he could increase the party’s clout.
“Rivers State will be fully APC,” Ganduje said, highlighting his hopes for George’s comeback to the party.
He greeted George and promised that a strong framework would be put in place to house him and other members who would be returning.
“You are now equal members with every other member of the party. We are bent on widening democracy in the country,” Ganduje added.
Ganduje’s statement coincides with the political conflict between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Governor Sim Fubara.
Wike has dismissed rumors that he was collaborating with Tony Okocha, the troubled former state chairman of the APC.
Okocha, however, recently revealed that Fubara would be de-marketed prior to the state’s 2027 gubernatorial election.
