The Federal Government has summoned all domestic airlines to a crucial meeting in Abuja following a spate of flight disruptions and rising incidents of unruly passenger behaviour.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the development in a post on X by its Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, on Tuesday.

According to him, the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.

“The NCAA has invited all domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja slated for tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu stated.

He noted that the agenda would include unruly passenger behaviour, passenger-handling protocols, unresolved refund and compensation complaints, and other consumer protection concerns.

The summon comes barely 24 hours after Achimugu warned that the NCAA had received the mandate of the Federal Government to begin “naming and shaming” airlines notorious for delays and cancellations.

On Monday, he also disclosed that sanctions would be imposed on operators who fail to meet their obligations to passengers.
