Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees member, Chief Bode George, has said former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido could face expulsion from the party following his recent actions ahead of the national convention.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, George stated that Lamido, who is among the founding figures of the PDP, failed to attend the last National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting where key decisions regarding the nomination process were made.
According to George, “Lamido knows the procedure. He’s one of the founding fathers of this party. He didn’t attend the last NEC meeting. In terms of hierarchy, NEC is the next level to the national convention. Decisions at NEC are expected to be followed to the bone.”
He noted that the party had set a clear timeline for the collection and submission of nomination forms, but Lamido did not comply. “He went to the party’s headquarters on the last day to return the forms,” he said.
George added that Lamido’s actions contradict efforts to ensure a smooth and well-organized convention. “All zonal members attended the meeting except Lamido. Yet, on the day of the final submission of forms, he just appeared and demanded a form. He must respect the rules,” he stressed.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that no member is above the party’s constitution, warning that continued disregard for laid-down procedures could attract disciplinary measures, including possible expulsion.
