The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of 17 underage children and the arrest of three suspected traffickers in Zaria.
In a statement issued by spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, the command said the operation was carried out on November 12, 2025, after officers received credible intelligence about unusual movements of children beneath the Danmagaji Flyover. Detectives from the Danmagaji Division promptly moved to the scene and intercepted the group.
According to the police, the children were allegedly being prepared for onward trafficking to Abuja and other destinations within and outside the country.
The suspects—21-year-old Musa Shuaibu of Funtua, Katsina State; 23-year-old Sani Mamman from Ingawa, Katsina State; and 20-year-old Mubarak Ismail of Unguwa Uku, Kano State—were apprehended at the location. During interrogation, they reportedly admitted to assembling the children from various communities and preparing to transport them to Abuja.
All 17 rescued children are minors, in stable condition, and currently under police protection while efforts are underway to identify their families and ensure their safe return.
