A violent commotion erupted in Umuahia ok Sunday Night as operatives of the Nigerian Police stormed Delatinos Concept Limited, allegedly opening fire and releasing tear gas on staff and customers. The raid resulted in the destruction of goods and properties worth millions of naira, with several individuals sustaining injuries.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as terrifying, with scores of victims rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia for urgent medical attention.
According to reports, the confrontation began when police officers attempted to enter the premises with meat purchased from outside. A bouncer reportedly stopped them, citing the establishment’s policy against bringing in outside food. This led to an altercation, after which the officers left, only to return with a truckload of armed men. They allegedly launched an attack, assaulting staff and guests while vandalizing equipment within the facility.
Many innocent patrons who had simply come to relax with a drink were caught in the chaos and are now receiving treatment at FMC Umuahia.
The motive behind the police action remains unclear, and efforts to get an official statement from law enforcement authorities are ongoing.
