The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) took a dramatic turn today as the party, at its Elective National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, announced the expulsion of several high-profile members, including Mr. Amah Abraham, a embattled Chairman of the Party in Abia .
The resolution, contained in a motion titled “Fifth Motion: Motion for the Expulsion of the Following Persons from the People’s Democratic Party for Anti-Party Activities and Gross Breaches of the Party’s Constitution,” was moved and adopted during the convention held between 15th and 16th November 2025.
According to the motion, the PDP National Convention cited Articles 10(6), 58(1)(b)(c)(f)(i)(j)(l) and 59(1)(g) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), accusing the expelled members of anti-party activities and violations of the party’s core principles.
Those Expelled Include:
1. H.E. Nyesom Wike
2. H.E. Ayo Fayose
3. Senator Samuel Anyanwu
4. Hon. Umar Bature
5. Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN
6. Mohammed Abdulrahman
7. Senator Mao Ohuabunwa
8. Hon. Austine Nwachukwu
9. Abraham Amah
10. George Turner
11. Chief Dan Orbih
The motion emphasized that the PDP, as a voluntary political organization, requires its members to uphold its constitution and core values. It further stated that the individuals expelled were found guilty of supporting and canvassing for opposition parties, thereby committing “various breaches” of the party’s laws.
In a further sweeping decision, the party also dissolved the Ward, Local Government, and State Executive Committees of the PDP in Abia State, citing prolonged internal crises and leadership instability.
The dissolution effectively renders the Abia PDP structure vacant and sets the stage for the appointment of a caretaker committee ahead of fresh congresses.
Today’s actions mark one of the most extensive disciplinary moves in the recent history of the PDP, signaling an aggressive attempt by the party to reclaim internal cohesion and discipline ahead of 2027 political realignments.
The expulsion of prominent figures, including former governors, national officers, and influential state chairmen, highlights the deepening internal fractures within the opposition party.
